Braid Platform UX Research
Date: March 16, 2023
The goal of this design workshop was to identify the needs of social entrepreneurs, evaluate Braid's brand identity, and assess the appeal of potential features. We hosted 5 participants to gain insights into these key areas.
Key Findings
- Story Workshop: Braid should support diverse writing processes. Participants varied in how they tagged their posts (e.g., ‘#challenge’ vs. ‘challenge’).
- Vulnerability and Trust: Entrepreneurs value spaces to be vulnerable but are cautious about who they share with due to concerns over trust and judgment.
- Branding: Participants liked the current artistic direction but recommended updating the font for a more modern look.
- Privacy Concerns: Participants feel safe sharing sensitive information in smaller groups but expressed concerns about sharing more broadly.
Key Recommendations
- Implement an autocomplete function for tags and group similar tags (e.g., ‘#challenge’ and ‘challenge’).
- Introduce privacy options, allowing users to control the audience for their posts, with options for anonymity.
- Add a "Book Mode" for users to create narrative-driven posts.
- Research new font options and adjust the spacing around the logo.
UX Assessment
Participants felt comfortable sharing stories in the workshop but were less likely to share them publicly due to concerns over judgment and competition.
Negative Feedback: Participants strongly disliked the idea of adding AI writing tools and gamification elements such as badges or points.
Next Steps
- Design and implement "Direct Messages" and "Book Mode" to enhance community building.
- Conduct font research and update branding materials.
- Develop privacy controls and implement narrative design for storytelling features.
